During my summer holidays, I took part in Netcraft’s Best of Britain Competition. The competition involved developing a solution
that could improve or refine one of Netcraft’s existing services.

The project I worked on consisted of developing an android app, and the relevant server side backend, which would help users
defend against voice phishing (vishing) attacks. The app allows potential victims to challenge callers to visit
a URL in their web browser. When the caller visits the URL, the app delivers a notification to the victim that
provides helpful information about the caller such as their IP address, location and organisation, helping them
decide on the legitimacy of the call. The server also stores a collection of safe IP addresses, which allows
the user to be notified when an IP is deemed to be from a trusted source.
